YELLOWWOOD Park ballerina, Giselle Botha was recently awarded the highest mark in KwaZulu-Natal during her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exam for 2010 grading.
The 11-year-old Penzance Primary School grade six pupil started dancing at the age of four and has been a regular award winner since.
"I love competing, but mostly I enjoy being on stage," said Giselle.
Although still young, the dancer has already set her sights on future goals and achievements.
"I would love to become a ballet teacher one day or maybe even a professional dancer," she said.
Ballet for Giselle is all about training and dedication. "It’s nice when we get to help each other at the dance studio."
Giselle’s mother, Dianne, said the young dancer is well-grounded despite always exceeding expectations at grading exams.
"She dances for the enjoyment of it, not for glory or recognition. She will definitely go far and has always done well, right from the beginning of her career."
Giselle, fittingly named after the famous ballet, was described by her teacher, Betty Blake, as a natural.
"She is an all-rounder in the truest form and excels in an array of sporting and academic disciplines at school.Giselle has maintained a distinction in all her RAD exams from pre-primary to intermediate. She is a hard-worker and loves the stage," said Betty.
Giselle has attended the Betty Blake Academy of Dance since the age of four.
